Govt scrutinising refugee intake amid fears Myanmar militants may slip in

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Malay Mail Online) — Malaysia will remain a “transit nation” for refugees who are seeking relocation, but are concerned that militants from neighbouring Myanmar may use the country as their training grounds, a deputy minister said. Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the government will keep track of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), but expressed concern that militants from Myanmar would enter the country. “Malaysia will continue to cooperate with UNHCR to receive refugees. However, we are also concerned that with the rise of militants

Berniaga Manusia Lagi Bagus Daripada Unta

“Dunia… Dunia…. Berniaga manusia lagi bagus daripada unta.. Wow!!”

Allegation of POCA being another ISA not true

Kuala Lumpur, 23 August (FMT) – The accusation against the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA), describing it as draconian and no different to the now-repealed Internal Security Act (ISA), is untrue, says Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed. Nur Jazlan said this was because POCA would provide more secure rights to the detainees compared with the ISA. “In the past, under the ISA, the home minister had the full power. With a signature of a minister, an individual can be detained for up to 60 days and the minister can also issue a detention order. “However, with POCA, the authorities can

Ghosts in the Malaysian Immigration System

Malaysia is a blessed country where shared prosperity is the guiding principle in maintaining peace and stability among its citizens. Thus, registration authorities are able to collect their biometric data and work permits are issued to them so that they have legal status within our system. While some treat their adventure here as a temporary

Response to the Bar Council on Prevention of Crime Act

18 August (Malay Mail) – In response to the press release by the Bar Council as reported in The Malay Mail Online on the 12th of August 2017 alleging that the amendments made to the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 effectively eliminates the due process and protections and are affront to the rule of law, I vehemently deny the said allegations. But before we go on, I would like to dispel the insinuation by certain parties that conflates POCA and ISA (Internal Security Act) which I find to be outright misleading. It is clearly spelt out under section 2A of POCA that no person

Yuran Perunding Projek Lanskap Legaran Segget Tidak Masuk Akal
